Well, as the saying goes, the early bird gets the worm. Hmmmm ... what if you don't like worms? Can you choose something else? Anyhow ... that was just a wierd thought I had. When you wake up and can't sleep at 4 a.m. I guess strange things go through your head. LOL
So. I have made the big move to a home based business. I had been considering it for some time and had trouble making the choice, but now that it is made I am very happy with it. There will certainly be some trials and tribulations to say the least, but I am hoping the positive aspects will outweigh them.
My choice finally hinged on the fact that I have to have another surgery which will mean no lifting for me for a couple of months. By moving the business to home I am more able to have my hubby, Kent, or other family and friends able to give me a hand with that, which will enable me to work through most of it. I know myself, and if I had stayed at the retail location I would have been there working regardless. With or without help.
Moving from a retail space to a home based space really only changes my location. It certainly does not change what I do or my ability to do it. In some regards it makes my job much better and more creative. As an example, I have a TON of art and craft supplies here that I was not able to utilize at the store. Here I will be able to combine them with the laser engraving, trophies, etc to create more unique and different projects. I am excited about that!
The one negative that stands out in this is space. We have a small house. And it is a very crowded house right now. LOL. At this point there are boxes of 'stuff' everywhere! Not too many rooms in the house that are sacred right now! LMAO. But, that will begin to change this weekend as I begin sorting and moving stuff into place.
I am thrilled with the fact that my laser engraver was moved and set back up (although temporarily vented out a window) all in the same day. Having my office in place was critical as I still have a ton of work to do, and no time to waste. So throughout this big move I have been able to work.
I need to thank the people who have helped me with this move. Kent, first and foremost. You did an amazing job of keeping things organized as I requested. I am SO impressed! You worked so hard to help me through this. Other helpers, Wendy & Marty Spezowka, Gord Thompson, and my daughter in law, Debbie. Without you this would have been much harder, and you all worked SO hard and so diligently to help this happen. Thank you!!!
All in all, it has been a rather traumatic month for our family. We have mourned the loss of my dear beloved father-in-law, our oldest son has taken a bad fall and injured his shoulder and could be off work for months, and our youngest son was in an extremely bad accident where his car was totalled. I am VERY grateful that Vince will heal and Shane managed to walk away from his accident almost unscathed. That is a miracle in itself.
Months like this teach me about being thankful. I am truly thankful and grateful for all that I have in my life. I am a person who appreciates the people around me. I live for the love of my family and friends. Nothing else is important in comparison.
HugZ to you all,
Alanna
